I was incredibly honoured this week to have the opportunity to speak at the Lorna Jane #IAMWOMAN event in Perth, to celebrate International Women’s Day. I deeply resonate with the global brand’s ethos of ‘Active Living’, so I was thrilled to be asked to present on Empowering Yourself.
If you’ve been hanging out here for a little while, you’ll know that I’ve been promising a series on MONEY before the end of the year. I’m really, really excited to share my ‘money story’ with you (it goes something like this: crap with money and in loads of debt to Budgeting Queen with an actual savings account in a relatively short space of time).
But, it just ain’t coming together.
And believe me, I’ve seriously dedicated real time to it; I have pages upon pages of scrawled notes, Post-Its in books I want to reference, about 1500 words in a Pages doc and a draft blog post in Wordpress, with a pretty image and all.
But, it just ain’t coming together.
I received a great email last week from a reader/past client of mine… She’s a wonderful health coach and blogger (and all-round lovely human being) and was keen for some advice on how she could get her blog noticed and take things to the next level. Fab! So, I thought I’d share my tips with you too…
“I would like to get my name out there more, especially in the realm of being interviewed by fellow health coaches or wellbeing blogs. I’d also really like to find more clients. How do I go about doing that? What’s the best way to let people know I exist, what I’m all about and drum up enough interest for them to want to feature me on their site?”
SUCH GREAT QUESTIONS. My reply? Read below…
You want to be happy (ier)? I’m telling you right now, you don’t need to change a thing.
Sometimes, when we’ve lost our ZING and we just wanna gosh-darn-nit BE HAPPY, we start to focus on all the number of things in our life that are making us unhappy.
Not enough time.
A job you despise.
I’ve made you something. It’s for you, the girl who knows that her health and wellness are directly proportional to her joy and happiness.
The girl who wants to feel good now.
You, the mega babe who has made the decision to become the healthiest, happiest, best version of herself – but the conflicting dietary advice, wellness fads and #fitspo accounts are just downright frustrating and confusing. I get it. Believe me.
You’ve dabbled with your creative fire, but you’re ready for more. You want to break the boundaries. Rebel a little.
You might know the what-to-do’s, but you need the how-to’s. The real life resolutions. Practical step-by-steps. A fun, fresh and do-able formula for wellness that gives you your power back.
Most importantly, you’re ready to make the switch from wanting to ‘be skinny’ to being unfreakingbelievably RADIANT.
Radiance starts from within and as our skin is our largest organ, it’s a fabulous messenger for what is – and isn’t – working for our insides. My skin will always let me know (with a jolly big breakout), when I haven’t had enough sleep or I’ve eaten too much sugar. Most of the time however, my skin is perfect. And that sentence still brings a smile to my face!
Alright, so you’ve got perfect skin. What do you know about adult acne then?
You see, I battled with acne for over 13 years. That’s nearly half my lifetime. Ouch. So believe me when I say, I understand the frustration, obsession and negative self image that acne – mild, moderate or severe – brings about.
From my early teens and right into my mid-twenties, I’d taken every pill under the sun and tried every topical cream you can buy. I’d seen dermatologists, filled piles of prescriptions and ingested a myriad of chemical concoctions in the hope of waking up with clear skin.
There’s something in the air right now. Can you feel it?
Anxious, dark, heavy clouds seem to be hanging over a few of my friends at the mo. Myself included.
In my current read, Broken Open, Elizabeth Lesser writes ‘despair is a non discriminating fellow. When he throws a late-night party, he invites every hopeless situation that troubles the mind.’
A big week (eBook launch, hosting a live conference call, a full schedule of coaching clients, getting my period again and pre-holiday preparations – all exciting of course), combined with a full moon and HOT, flustery weather has flicked the switch on my jittery levels.
It starts in my forehead, goes down my throat and jaw and into my chest.

To say that I like to get down and dirty is an understatement. I’m all for peeling back layers, getting cozy with my shadow self and really diving into the depths of my darker side – ego, limiting beliefs and emotional blocks.
Why? Because it leads to such powerful shifts causing me to crack open + connect to life. Those dark journeys lead to bliss.
The problem though, is that it’s not always a smooth ride with clearly mapped directions when I’m in that self-enquiry, explorative mode. Often, I’m feeling my way through the dark, trying to ‘figure’ it out.
Hello and welcome to 2014! It feels good to be back. Back on the blog, back to routine and back to healthier habits. Ahhhhh, sleep and salad.
There is no other time of year that stirs up so much desire to make healthy changes in our lifestyle is there? A new year feels like fresh starts and opportunities to be the best version of ourselves. Plus – let’s be honest – the addition of the indulgent silly season helps spur us into January with a myriad of good intentions we’d like to make in our lives.
Which is great! I’ve got a few myself too. But how we do make sure these stick? Here are a few sneaky secrets of mine to help you on your way!
Today’s guest post comes to you from Ashlee Cummins, one of the gorgeous and inspiring women I have the pleasure of coaching. Ashlee is a Personal Trainer with years of experience and is also on her way to be certified as a Health Coach. Ashlee has such a special message to share with the world; that exercise can be a mindful, enjoyable, blissful experience that allows us to reconnect with our physical selves and nourish our body, mind and soul. I love the way Ashlee incorporates moments of mindfulness and presence into her workouts and they are always filled with love. For someone like me, who is a recovering gym-junkie, it’s truly wonderful to approach exercise from such a gentle place, yet still reap some incredible benefits. My abs were killing after this particular one! Go get your beautiful body moving and give this awesome workout a crack!
