Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always had a strong sense of – and deep connection to – my sexuality, spirituality and creativity. But throughout most of my life, these integral parts of my being have (in my mind) been at odds with one another: players on different teams, different worlds. I saw […]
For the first half of my 20’s, I lived with – and intently listened to – a voice in my head (my Mean Girl) that whispered all kinds of “fun” things like: you’re such a fake, you’re not good enough, you’re wasting time, you’re fat, broke, selfish, annoying, boring, lazy, too-this, too-that, not enough of something […]
I am no stranger to prayer; growing up, I attended church every Sunday – well into my high school years in fact – and I have always had a running dialogue with God. Whether it be frustrations scrawled in my journal, soft ‘thank you’s’ forming in my mind, or spoken out loud with family and friends, prayer is […]
Let’s be honest for a moment here. Would you want to sit down and have a conversation with me, if I wanted to chat about dying and share my thoughts on death with you?
Last week, I shared some of my favourite books, one of them being Thrive by Arianna Huffington. Perhaps somewhat oddly, my favourite section in the book is the section devoted to death. Arianna’s advice (in order to live a rich, full life) is to contemplate and converse about death… Which (if we’re being honest) is the exact opposite of what most of us do!
We’re an intelligent, soulful and creative bunch of book-lovers around these parts, aren’t we? Yeah, we may be immersed in the digital age of social media, blogging and instant information, but we’re still devotees to the printed word and tangible pages of a real life BOOK.
Getting High with Tara Bliss: Purpose, resistance, fear, creativity… And writing a best selling book
I can’t quite tell you exactly what date it was in July 2012, but one day – after a big, alcohol-fuelled weekend – I’d had enough. I shed a few tears about ‘not knowing what I wanted to do with my life’ and I made the simple decision to make a change; I emailed Tara Bliss.
And this divine woman became my life coach.
I, Claire Baker, do believe it’s due time for a wee round up of all the goodness getting around, don’t you? We’re well and truly into Spring and with that, comes an energy of rebirth, renewal and exploration…
And I’ve been looooooving it. I’ve cut back on a bunch of stuff (namely social media and the desire to be constantly ‘busy’), and I’ve been revelling in the energy of essentialism; what is most important to me? Let’s let go of the rest and hone in on that.
I’ve created an ‘Essentialism Challenge’ for the women I coach 1:1 and everyone is LOVING this permission to strip back the crap and immerse themselves in what’s truly significant for them. So here are a few things that are helping me vibe HIGH in the Spring energy, create real space and zone in on what’s essential for me for the rest of 2014. Dig in!

Aaaaand we’re halfway through the She Is Radiant Soul Sessions. A video series of interviews with 5 of my favourite radiant ladies and experts in their fields. Thanks so much for being here!
Following on from Monday’s super-informative conversation on gut health with Nat Kringoudis and leaning into body love with Vanessa Millar yesterday, today we’re shifting gears and chatting COMPARISON.
I’d like to introduce you to your inner critic. Actually, you’ve known each other for some time now. For so long in fact, that you might have begun to think that your inner critic is in fact, you. Let me explain.
You know that voice you hear inside your head that says things like…
“I’m not good enough for him/her”
“If I change XYZ in my life, then I’ll be happy”
“These jeans make me look enormous”
“Nothing I have to give is worth anything”
“I should have bought a house/got engaged/ saved more money by now”
“I won’t try that – I’m just going to fail anyway”
“I’ll always be in debt/overweight/a failure, so I’d better get used to it”
That voice gorgeous, is not you.
Elegant, eloquent truth. Passionate, purpose-soaked prose that gets under your skin and sends a tingle down your spine. Luscious, no? I think yes.
If you’re a devotee of the aforementioned style of writing (and you’re here, so I believe you are), then my friend, I have something veerrryyyyy special for you today. Meet Jasmine Matthews.
Jasmine is a holistic health coach who specialises in nutritional and energetic healing over at Simply Replenished. She’s also a Mama and a creator and a wonderful human being. I have had the honour of contributing to and participating in Jasmine’s online seasonal cleanses and let me tell you, they (and she) are magic. Hearing her delightful New Zealand accent on her educational audios never fails to make me smile!
