Alana Blue 600

As a self-proclaimed multi-passionate (you know – someone who gets psyched about a bazillion different things every day and battled through ‘Careers’ at High School because no single occupation seemed to sum up everything they dug – oh, you too?) I truly understand how confusing and frustrating it can be when you’re trying to figure out what the hell you want to do with your life.

Sometimes when you’re skilled at or interested in many things, it can feel as if there’s a pressure that you need to make a decision on which of these passions to focus on. This mind-game burdened me for years – I’ve always been quite creative (I even went and got myself a degree in Visual Arts & Design) but I’m crazy about health and wellness. I’ve always had a knack for stringing a sentence together too. So where to from here? Journalism? Interior Design? Art Gallery Curator? Nutritionist?

The point to this intro is I think Alana Wimmer has it figured out.

When Alana and I first became online buddies 12 months ago, she was studying holistic nutrition and kicking off her entrepreneurial career as a Health Coach. Over the past year, I’ve watched her focus slowly evolve from the wellness world to creative Graphic Design services. I dig this SO much – It takes guts to change the sails of your ship and throw yourself into what really drives you. Fast forward to today and Alana is delivering some super-fresh, clever design work all over the online world.

Alana has executed her personal branding so brilliantly on her website, that under her umbrella she’s combined all her wonderful passions that make her offerings so unique. This is the beauty of entrepreneurialism; the ability to capture all the unique parts of yourself that make you who you are and deliver a smorgasbord-of-awesomeness as a service to others. This girl is doing it right.

So, first things first. What is your dream?

When I think of my dream life, it includes a small, simple home near the beach, with my husband, an organic garden and a bunch of cute dogs, in a lovely community, while working remotely in a career I love, helping other entrepreneurs spread their important messages by wrapping them in beautiful design.

What makes up your lifeblood?

Friends and family (including animals) are my number one in life. Beyond that, I’m passionate about travel, adventure, creativity, and forging my own path – and I want this for everyone else, too!

What has been your biggest fear to date to overcome?

For a long time, I just didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t think any of my ‘crazy’ ideas about starting my own business were worthwhile, and I was terrified of taking any action. But I am so glad I did.

Being healthy means that I…

I eat well and practice intuitive eating, squeeze in some exercise, and make sure I get some human interaction away from my computer screen! I hug a lot. I also meditate and get plenty of sleep. And if I want peanut m’n’ms, I eat them without regret! Health = balance.

To me, the word ‘healing’ means…

I feel the power of healing all the time. In small actions, like taking 10 minutes to meditate, or standing barefoot on the grass and taking deep breaths. Journaling, yoga, kinesiology. Any time I consciously take time for myself, it feels healing.

Where is your ultimate travel destination?

I am a tropical girl at heart, so a resort somewhere beautiful and beachy and warm, with fresh fruit juice and swaying palm trees. And hammocks. But there also has to be opportunities to explore and soak up some culture. I traveled to Mexico earlier this year and it was pretty spot on!

What DRIVES you?

Just wanting to live out the purpose of why I am here. I try to make intuitive decisions and follow what feels right which means I am on track. Being the best partner/daughter/friend I can be. I also want to make being an entrepreneur my permanent reality. I don’t want to go back to a cubicle, so that drives me to get my butt outta bed!

Choosing love over fear means…

Realizing the truth. Learning about the concept of choosing love over fear has reframed how I see everything. I forget it sometimes, and my mind reverts to monkey mode. When I am analyzing every angle and arguing with myself in my mind, I know it’s time to choose love again.

I feel really creative when I…

Am designing! That’s one of my favourite things about my job. I literally am required to be creative most of the day. Also, when I am travelling, taking photos, cooking, writing, or rearranging my house!

If you could tell your 14 year old self one thing, what would it be?

Oh babe. Trust yourself.

Can you share with us your secret indulgence?

It’s hardly a recipe, but it’s the best thing ever. If I am craving chocolate, I mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, with 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder, and ½ a tablespoon of coconut sugar. Add a bunch of nuts (macadamias, almonds) or desiccated coconut. Mix around. Harden in the fridge if you can resist eating it out of the bowl. Put in mouth. BEST EVER!
