self worth

I just sent this excerpt from my upcoming eBook The She Is Radiant Toolkit: 36 Truths, Dares & Tools To Guide Your Wellness Adventure off to a few clients of mine who are cranking their self trust and self worth practice and I thought ‘Hey! I think my incredible blog readers would enjoy these too.’ So here you are. Can’t wait to hear what you think about this sneaky-peak!

There’s no denying that SELF LOVE is a big buzz word right now – and rightly so. It’s crucial to cultivate a self love practice, one that ensures you are kind to yourself, nourish yourself and accept all of who you are.

But I want to throw a couple of words into the mix – SELF TRUST and SELF WORTH.

These are self love’s awesome cousins and I am obsessed with these concepts right now, because I believe they really embody the essence of what it means to be radiant.

TRUTH | SELF TRUST

Self trust means that you KNOW that you can count on YOU. While we can’t really depend on anyone else in our lives 100% (and that’s totally OK), when we trust ourselves to take care of our needs, our desires and our nourishment, we can loosen the reigns a little and relax.

We don’t need to have a strict schedule, unyielding To Do List’s and a regimented diet plan, because we know that we can trust ourselves in the moment, to make the best, most nourishing choices for ourselves. Self trust certainly isn’t about perfection; it’s just knowing with a quiet confidence that you’re loyal, gentle and kind to yourself.

When we trust ourselves…

+ Our intuition is heightened and decision making becomes a breeze.

+ We are aware of our thoughts, feelings and emotions and can express them fully.

+ We don’t feel dependant on other for our happiness, satisfaction and joy.

+ We set boundaries in our life and we honour them.

+ But we’re also flexible, realistic and gentle enough with ourselves to know that if that self trust ever slips, we know we’ll carry on without the guilt-fest. THAT recommitment is where the real magic in self trust lies.

How can we begin to cultivate self trust in our life?

+ Watch your language – too often we declare ‘I don’t trust myself’ in relation to food, relationships, commitments and more. Catch yourself when you think this way and affirm ‘It is safe for me to trust myself’.

+ Do what you say you’re going to do. Follow through. Commit. Then re-commit. Keep your promises to yourself, but be gentle when things don’t quite go according to plan. No guilt!

+ Tune into that intuition and those gut feelings. Start to follow it and as it strengthens, so will your trust in yourself.

TRUTH | SELF WORTH

Before we dive in, the concept of self worth can, honestly, be incredibly emotional to talk or think about. When we ask ourselves the question ‘Am I Worthy?’, a barrage of old insecurities, self doubt and fears can knock us sideways. So I encourage you to take your time with this one, OK?

Self worth is all about our self-perceived worthiness. Do you value yourself, your talents and your capabilities? Do you believe in your unique and worthy gifts? Do you know in your heart that you deserve a happy, fulfilling, abundant, radiant life?

The thing is, regardless of anything that we have done, haven’t done, achieved or haven’t achieved, we are ALL worthy. You ARE worthy. You wouldn’t be here, reading this, if you weren’t.

But it’s in the knowing. It’s in the BELIEVING in your self worth that is key, because the level at which you believe you are worthy, is what will be reflected back to you in your life.

If you feel you are unworthy or you don’t deserve the things you desire, you won’t get them. But if you know in your heart that you are worthy of all the love and radiance in the world, then that my friend, is what you will find.

This week’s dare is the perfect step to start cultivating your self trust and self worth.

DARE | I AM WORTHY & I TRUST MYSELF

For the next week, I dare you to build that pot of self trust and self worth gold. I want you to write down 3 glorious reasons every day why you trust yourself and why you are worthy.

Try to ensure you document different reasons every day, so at the end of the week you’ll have a treasure trove of gems that you can refer back to whenever you need. There’s no right or wrong answers here – just write from your heart.
