There’s nothing like making the decision to practice the art of self-care or explore your creativity to bring up all of your STUFF. And by stuff I mean insecurities, self doubt, fear and resistance. Social media shines with crafted, glossy exteriors and it’s easy to feel as if our delightful-but-messy life, isn’t up to scratch. […]
“Sometimes, you just need a break. In a beautiful place. Alone. To figure everything out.”
The first time I saw that quote was somewhere on Instagram in August 2012, right before I decided to book myself on a week long yoga retreat in Bali. Slapping the $1800 on my credit card, it was exactly what I needed in that uncertain chapter of my life, to retreat, to pull back, to: figure everything out.
Today, I’m passionate about honouring this ebb and flow. It is an intention of mine to tune in daily to my own cycles for creativity and self care, in my business AND in my life. Sometimes, this means immersing myself in a project and working my arse off. Sometimes, this means pulling back, creating space, taking a break and retreating.
“The highest prize we can receive for creative work is the joy of being creative. Creative effort spent for any other reason than the joy of being in that light filled space, love, God, whatever we want to call it, is lacking in integrity. . .” – Maryanne Williamson
There’s been a billion-and-one reasons why the last two weeks without any social media has positively impacted my life. A few poignant ones have been:
+ More space and time. For real writing. For creating (for you). For my man. For me.
+ Joy-inspired creativity. Writing and publishing here, on the blog, without the scrambling energy of social media: to see who has commented/liked/shared… Engaging in creative work, purely for the joy of it.
+ De-cluttering. Transitioning to working full-time from home and having my sexy man move in a few months ago, has meant that things have become a little, ahhhh, congested.
I’m SO excited to be launching my brand spankin’ new coaching and mentoring packages into the world! I’ve been tweaking and playing with these babies behind the scenes for a few months now, shifting and experimenting and figuring out the best way I can show up for YOU. In a way that is authentically ME.
So why the new changes?
Working with a coach and mentor is not something to be taken lightly; it’s a big investment, a choice to say ‘YES’ to you and your dreams. So I want to give you options. To be able to choose your adventure.
As a coach, my clients mean the world to me. It’s vital therefore that the services that I offer – in their delivery, duration, intensity and focus – reflect YOUR needs, as well as MY passion and expertise.
You know me. I’m all about health, wellness and empowerment to live your best life as well as creativity, blogging, business and soulful self expression.
And I know you. You know that life is there to be lived. You’re a creative babe who has so much to give to the world. You’ve got soul. But maaaayyybe that spark needs a bit of loving attention. Those dusty dreams are ready to be pulled out and hauled back onto the table. You know it’s time to press play on the goals and intentions you’ve been brewing away and shrug off the could-haves and should-haves.
Like every damn soul these days, I’m busy. I’m currently juggling a part-time job, study, my coaching business, family commitments and of course, this blog. And I’m about to start my yoga teacher training (!!!) and begin writing an e-book.
But we’re all busy aren’t we? We fill our lives with stuff to do, places to be, people to see, things to learn, grow, achieve and tick off the bucket list. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love my big, beautiful life full of passion, people, pursuits and presence.
However, some days it can feel a little chaotic.
So after we have gotten back to basics and become real and honest with ourselves by getting real, we can fall in love with exercise and our body by becoming AMAZED at it’s capabilities.
What it can DO. It’s potential not only physically, but mentally as well. I love that exercise allows me to not only look after my physical health, but just as importantly, my mental health.
Stay forever amazed at the awesomeness of your body. Let’s dive in.
I’ve learnt a lot of things recently.
Some of these things are useful. Some not so much, like the fact that White-Out is actually available in a range of colours, frozen bananas are seriously delicious on 40 degree days and Perth folk don’t tend to use blinkers whilst driving. Actually those last two are quite useful. Anyway. One of the more useful things I’ve learnt is that procrastination is sometimes life just waiting until the moment is right…
