It’s almost been four years since I started blogging / sharing online and August of 2016 marks two years since I ‘quit my day job’ and decided to take this self-employed thang full time. It’s been one hell and heaven of a ride! I wouldn’t have any of it any other way. I was recently asked some […]
Ah, change is in the air! Aren’t transitions just a treat? Since my blogging break, I’ve made a feel little adjustments around the place. In “real life” as well as on the blog. Sometimes we only need to make a few tiny adjustments, pull back on a commitment or two or re-evaluate a seemingly small area of our life in order to make BIG changes.
For example, I needed to kill some overwhelm quick smart recently. I was feeling like I was spread as thin as vegemite on (gluten-free) toast, not giving 100% to anything, not being fully present or committed to any area of my life. I was exhausted, annoyed and upset. Mainly at myself.
I felt like I wasn’t being enough for anyone or anything. Like I just wasn’t giving ENOUGH. There wasn’t enough time in the day, enough energy, enough of me to go around. I felt I wasn’t being a good enough friend, sister, coach, daughter, student or employee.
I needed to slow down. Something had to give. An adjustment needed to be made.
Picture this. You’re overworked due to your stressful corporate job, you’re punishing your body by exercising to the extreme and not eating well. You’re not looking after yourself. Then you get a wake up call. You’re diagnosed with severe adrenal fatigue, polycystic ovaries, insulin resistance and a whole host of hormonal and blood sugar issues. What do you do? Do you take the life of medication or do you listen to your body and attempt to cure yourself naturally?
This is exactly the predicament the gorgeous Corona Brady from Nurture Pod found herself in in 2007 and as you can probably guess, she took the latter option. Now a qualified Health Coach, Yoga Teacher and Reiki Healer, Corona took accountability for her illness and transformed her health and lifestyle. Today, no trace of any of these health concerns exist in her (very bendy!) body and now helping other people on their own transformational health journeys is what she gets to call ‘work’. How awesome is that!? She also has the coolest Irish accent and the most beautiful wedding photos I have ever seen. Babe bride alert! Check her blog out for more and read on…
I think the greatest thing about coaching women through their health and wellness journey is that my clients become my friends and I learn just as much from them, as them from me. We cheer each other on – it’s a double inspiration whammy! I’m so encouraged, energised and excited for every single one of the women I coach and Cath Grigg is no exception. This heroine is a Super-Mum-Beauty Therapist-Wellness-Woman-Extraordinaire and organic living advocate. She inspires me to put food the best quality food in my mouth and the best quality products on my skin. The way Cath speaks with gratitude about her family, her passion for her business and helping others as well as her positive outlook on life despite the challenges she has overcome, makes me smile every time we chat. I am so excited for all the wonderful things ahead for this lady.
There are people in my life who I admire, respect and adore. Then there are people in my life who I admire, respect and adore AND have a gigantic girl-crush on. Without sounding like a total creep, Claire Obeid falls in the second category.
Maybe it’s the shared-name thing, but it’s most likely the fact that she is an authentic, real, caring soul who is so passionate about helping others to live a healthy lifestyle that she has built her business The Wellness Project to become the melting pot of health, yoga and balance that it is today. Claire offers coaching, yoga classes, an e-course and a brand new eBook; she’s created a real haven of holistic health.
Claire is kind, helpful, honest and open and has both feet firmly planted on the ground. Or on her yoga mat. If all you do is sign up for her ridiculously informative (and free) weekly newsletters, you will gain momentous amounts of information and guidance. I’m so thrilled to have Claire on the blog today. Enjoy!
Like every damn soul these days, I’m busy. I’m currently juggling a part-time job, study, my coaching business, family commitments and of course, this blog. And I’m about to start my yoga teacher training (!!!) and begin writing an e-book.
But we’re all busy aren’t we? We fill our lives with stuff to do, places to be, people to see, things to learn, grow, achieve and tick off the bucket list. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love my big, beautiful life full of passion, people, pursuits and presence.
However, some days it can feel a little chaotic.
If you’ve been living in a cave and haven’t yet stumbled up the delish-fest that is Amy Crawford aka The Holistic Ingredient’s Instagram feed then I suggest you join the 14,000+ followers (yes – this lady has quite the tribe!) PRONTO. I fell in love with Amy’s food first, her amazing story second and the gorgeous woman herself third. Amy is kind, compassionate, funny, determined and warm.
Her passion for healing is undeniable; a journey of healing herself of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) through holistic health therapies has seen her reincarnate as a Hypnosis, CTC, NLP & Reiki 2 Practitioner as well as a Health Coach and soon to be published Author of what is set to be a recipe e-book must have.
Holy (organic) guacamole right? I personally CANNOT WAIT to hit the kitchen with this book in tow… How many sleeps now Amy?!
It’s been a month since I last updated The Gratitude Files and what a month it has been. I’ve officially moved to Perth, as in I now have my own room, my clothes are hanging in a wardrobe and I’m job hunting like a crazy person.
There’s been a lot of uncertainty, excitement, confusion and sadness in the past few weeks. My brother has made some amazing steps forward in his recovery but we’ve also received the news we aren’t able to transfer him to Melbourne, so Western Australia is home for now. Which is totally cool.
My parents and I agree however that the last fortnight has been the hardest since the first month after his accident. He spoke his first word in 5 months the other day. He also turned 24 the other day. The ups and downs of the emotional roller coaster continue.
The future is a scary place sometimes. So I’ve been choosing to stay present. Whenever, wherever, presence. It brings me back into the now, back into love and back into gratitude.
I don’t know about you, but I find there is nothing more inspiring than girl-crushing on a mega babe who is living her dream, rocking her life and changing the world in the process. Someone who I can relate to as well as look up to.
Someone whose story resonates with me and who I admire for living their life with PASSION and AUTHENTICITY and kicking arse in the process.
I dig it. Connection. Soul sisters. Good vibes. Sharing the love.
So without further ado, it is with great pleasure that I kick off my interview series Heroines with Heart today – a weekly space for me to share with you some of the ultra inspiring, brilliant women (or men – it’d be wicked to have a Hero with Heart up here too!) that are currently blowing my mind.
I’m SO excited to introduce you to the gorgeous Tegan Westra. This girl has a heart of gold and she is on a mission to end the battle that too many women have with their bodies.
You know that feeling you get when you make a brilliant and clever decision for yourself?
A decision that that you reflect upon with a smile and a sneaky pat on the back?
Well enrolling at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to become a qualified Health Coach is one of those shiny, wonderful gems of a decision that I’ve made in my 26 (and a half) years of life.
I am absolutely loving the course. Macrobiotics, raw food, veganism vs animal products, grains, super foods and carbohydrates, self care, relationships and spirituality.
I thrive on this stuff. I feel like every lecture was written just for me. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but that’s what so brilliant about it all. I’ll be able to guide people to live to their full potential and achieve absolute health and happiness – even if their thang ain’t studying a mountain of dietary theories. Awesome.
So tell me, have you ever heard of food energetics?
Well, you know the saying you are what you eat? Food energetics looks at food BEYOND vitamins, minerals and calories and instead focuses on the way food imposes different effects in our bodies and corrects internal imbalances. The qualities and temperaments that food holds.
How it makes us feel.
Picking up what I’m putting down?
